Have A Conversation With Us
Interviews
In this research, we hope to produce space for dialogue and relationships with young African leaders. This research and our understanding of the experiences of African youth will evolve based on what you choose to share with us. Currently, we utilize interviews to connect directly with young African leaders like yourself. Our interviews are last about an hour, and are conducted by members of the research team. If you’d like to talk with us, start by filling out our short survey. This gives us the context and contact information to schedule a time to talk.
After the Survey
The research team reads through survey responses and invites participants for interviews. A member of the research team will reach out to you via email to ask if you are interested in an interview, and what your availability is. If you are especially interested in conducting an interview, feel free to submit an interview request form.
Before the Interview
Once we’ve scheduled a time, we’ll need to you complete an interview consent form. Most of the time, we use Skype to conduct our interviews. However, we have also conducted interviews over the phone and in person, depending on participants’ access, needs and our availability. There’s nothing you need to do to prepare. If you have any concerns, need specific accommodations, or want a better sense of who you’ll chat with, don’t hesitate to ask. We have a loose set of guiding questions and protocol, but we really want to listen to whatever you want to tell us.
After the Interview
Interviews are an iterative process. We’re all learning from each one we conduct. Any feedback you have about the interview is welcome. We’d also love to hear any ways that this research and our work can be of use to you, as we shape our work down the line. We might want to conduct a follow-up interview, or arrange a focus group interview. All of these only happen with your consent. If you consented to us recording the interview, a member of the research team or third-party will transcribe the interview. When we begin the data-analysis phase of our research process, we read through these transcripts and listen back to the interview.
